As a professional caregiver, I have found that when people look for help, they want more than a theorist or an academician. People want someone who has experience with their particular problem. In other words, they want someone who has been there.

This is one of the reasons we are still drawn to Jesus. He walked in our shoes, dealt with our temptations and was acquainted with our grief. Jesus is more than a theologian of grief. He has been there.

Good Grief, Jesus is a powerful book, because Hilton Chancellor is so much more than a theorist about grief. My good friend, Hilton, has gathered wisdom from years of walking and kneeling with hundreds of hospice patients as they travel through the valley of the shadow of death. Hilton has walked the walk with people. The true richness of this book, though, comes from his own personal experiences with grief. Because of this depth of experience, Good Grief, Jesus is a book that can further the knowledge of the bereavement professional while also offering hope and strength to fellow travelers through that valley.
